340,094. Powder boxes. ROSENTHAL, B., 27, NÚpszinhßz Utca, Budapest. Nov. 9, 1929, No. 34298. Convention date, Aug. 7. [Class 18.] A powder box comprising a container with a perforated lid is enclosed by a casing which, in opening, moves in a rectilineal direction and rotates a vanewheel in the container to deliver powder through the holes in the lid. In an example, a box b enclosing a powder container a is surrounded by a casing c in two parts which can be pushed together to enclose the box completely. A perforated tray i closing the container a is held therein by two resilient tongs l and is closed by a hinged mirror which springs up when the casing is opened. One of two studs e limiting the outward movement of the casing parts c has a rack o pivoted thereon, the rack engaging a spur-wheel g keyed on to a pin which extends into the container a and carries a blade or vane-wheel. A spring p keeps the rack and spur-wheel in engagement. When the halves of the casing are pulled apart, the mirror springs up and the vane-wheel is caused to rotate and deliver powder through the holes in the tray where it is received on a puff. A ratchet wheel and rack may be used so that the vane-wheel rotates only when the casing is, for example, being opened. In another construction, the box and casing are of the drawer-and-shell type, the box being pulled out by a knob or tab, and a depression to hold a lipstick &c. may be provided in the lid of the powder container.
