Luncheon and picnic baskets and causes.-In a box, case or basket having a receptacle carried by a partition hinged about an axis parallel to the open side of the box so that the receptacle can be rendered accessible by turning the partition about the hinge, the receptacle is made expansible and capable of holding loose articles by springs. As shown, the case is intended for picnic purposes and the partition 8 has three walls 11, 12, the intermediate wall 12 extending beyond the walls 11 and being attached to the case by hinges 9; a cover 13 extends across the side walls 11 and is connected by springs 14 with the partition 8 so that it may move to or from the partition and so make the receptacle, formed by the partition and cover, expansible while articles are held on the partition by the spring-controlled cover; the cover may have side walls and the end of the receptacle opposite the wall 12 is left open or the opening may be partly closed by a ledge, rim or beading 16. Fittings for cutlery may be provided on the cover 13 and clips 19 for cups may be secured to one of the walls 11. The pins of the hinges 19 may be removable so that the partition &c. may be detached and supported on the outside of the case by slotted lugs 20 on the partition engaging projections 22 on a side of the case. The case may be fitted with two or more partitions.
