Abstract

339,375. Bloomfield, C. W. Sept. 16, 1929. Armouring.-Cables insulated with indiarubber or compounds thereof are provided with a coating of metal, preferably aluminium, applied to the insulation in a highly disintegrated or powdered form. The insulated conductor may be coated by painting or spraying with the powdered metal, or by passing it through a bath containing the metal powder carried in a suitable vehicle. The coating may also be applied to a proofed tape or cloth wrapped around the insulated conductor. The cable thus formed may be protected further by a coating of varnish, a wrapping of tape or braid, or by a lead or alloy sheath. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 304,493.
