Abstract

Combined working of gramophones with kinematographs.-A transmission gear-box embodying clutch mechanism is arranged between a kinematograph and a sound reproducer, so that the machines may work individually or in combination. As shown, a kinematograph is driven by a pulley a and is connected to a shaft c in a gearbox f by a short shaft covered by a rubber sleeve. The shaft c carries a slidable clutch member n' and a fixed clutch member n, the latter being attached to a gear wheel j which gears with a wheel on a shaft m. The end m<1> of the shaft m affords a connection for a flexible shaft to be fixed to the ordinary gramophone gear drive. The clutch member n<1> is operated by crank means p, q, r, having a knurled knob o located outside the casing f, and the jaws of the clutch parts n, n', are undercut at n<2> so that thev do not inadvertently separate when in operative connection. The spindle m is supported by a bearing t and is prevented from creeping upwardly by a thrust screw u mounted in the cover f<1> of the casing f and bearing on the gear wheel carried by the spindle m.
