285,254. Wigglesworth, F. Feb. 19, 1927. Carding-engines.-Reversing gearing for carding-engines comprises a bevel train B, E<3>. D arranged within the boss B<1> of driving-pulley F. One side gear B is secured to the boss B<1>. The other side gear D is secured to shaft S. Intermediate or planet gears E<3> are supported in a revoluble frame or spider E<2>, which has a sleeve extension E upon which is slidably, splined a dog clutch disc P. When the disc P is slid to the position shown in Fig. 1, its teeth P<2> engage teeth on the pulley boss B<2> yielding a solid forward drive. To reverse the drive, the disc P is slid to the right, when peripheral teeth P<3> upon it engage teeth J<1> in a dog member J upon control shaft G. The spider E<2> being held fast acts as a fulcrum by which the shaft S is driven reversely.
