Abstract

335,177. Hutchin, S. June 17, 1929. Stoppering.-A machine for applying corks &c. to bottles comprises a vertically moving tubular member 5 having resilient packing 8 for engagement with the bottle neck and resilient packing 9 at the other end for forming an airtight joint with a knob 10 surrounding the stoppering device 13. Means are provided for exhausting the member 5 so that a closure can be applied to both under sub-atmospheric pressure. The closure applying device is described in Specification 341,583, [Group XVII]. Specification 273,857 also is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 208,702.
