Braiding-machines.-A bobbin-carrier having a lateral support d for the eyes n, n<1> &c. is provided with a let-off and tensioning device placed below the bobbin. A detent g, pivoted at f, and located in a slot in the support d is normally held in engagement with ratchet teeth m<1> by the thread, against the pressure of a central spring i. When the tension increases the detent eventually releases the bobbin. When the detent g is in either of the two extreme positions shown it comes within range of arms p or p<1> connected to a stop-motion. The tension of the spring i may be adjusted and the shape of the cam surface on which the plunger h is supported also tends to equalise the tension. Two separate levers may function for tensioning and for the let off respectively.
