Abstract

Screw conveyers.-A conveyer for use in apparatus for subjecting materials to the action of a gaseous medium in a cylindrical chamber 7 comprises a rotary shaft 13 on which is mounted a series of buckets 14 so arranged that they pick up material from the bottom of the chamber and deposit it at a point in advance of that at which it was'picked up. The buckets may be perforated. A series of chambers 7 may be arranged one above the other which communicate with one another at opposite ends alternately by means of connections 10. The inlet 8 and outlet 9 may be fitted with rotary feeding and discharge devices of known kind for sealing the upper and lower chambers.
