Abstract
332,769. Drey, Simpson, & Co., Ltd., Drey, O., and Byrd, H. L. Aug. 9, 1929. Pile, Cutting.-In a weft-pile cutting machine, the knife 14 is withdrawn from the race when the machine is stopped by the joint or other thick part of the cloth contacting with the feeler mechanism 41, 42. The knife 14 is carried by a lever 34 pivoted on a sliding frame 33 which is normally retained in' operative position by a catch 45, but when this is withdrawn by the joint &c, of the cloth, a spring 40a moves the frame 33 to withdraw the cutter from the race and stop the machine by opening one of the contacts 37, 38. The parts are so arranged that the joint in the cloth passes the normal position of the cutter before the cloth comes to rest.
