Sound recording or reproducing apparatus associated with kinematographs.-A synchronizing linkage for connection between a gramophone and a kinematograph consists of a flexible cable having the necessary gearing device disposed either between the gramophone and the end of the cable and external to the gramophone, or between the kinematograph and the end of the cable. If desired, the step-up or step-down gearing device is provided at one end of the cable and an ordinary right-angle drive, for the purpose of avoiding a bend in the cable, at the other end. At the gramophone end, a gear box l, Figs. 1 and 3, encloses two gear wheels m<2>, m<3> which are connected with the flexible cable disposed in a casing g. The part q of the box l is screwthreaded externally for connection with the casing g of the cable. A hollow spindle m<4> extends through the box and has a collar m<6> at its upper end so that when the device is placed in position on a record n on the turntable, a prolongation of the turntable spindle enters the spindle m<4> and is secured thereto by a screw m'. A special turntable or plate device of the kinds described in Specifications 331,242, 331,477, or 331,805 may be employed. At the kinematograph end, the casing g of the cable is connected to a tube d which is supported on a bracket c<1> secured to the kinematograph by screws c, as shown in Fig. 1. The cable is connected to a shaft f in the tube d as shown in Fig. 2, and has at its end a rightangle drive e connected by a flexible cable e<4> to the driving pulley e<5> of the kinematograph. A bracket j for supporting the casing g of the cable on the gramophone cabinet h consists of two relatively slidable parts j<1>, j<3>, Fig. 4. The edge of the gramophone cabinet is gripped between the bracket j<3> and the end of a screw j', and the height of the member j<3> for holding the casing g is adjustable by means of a nut j<5> on the screw j'. A screw j' holds the casing g in position. The channel-shaped plate j<3> may be arranged to engage the upper and lower faces of the cabinet h with the screw j<4> in the upper limb.
