Movable-abutment type.-The shafts c, d of the rotating lobed parts of a gas or like meter of the Roots' blower type drive through spiral or bevel gearing shafts g, h coupled together by discs i, j one or both of the discs being provided with elongated slots to receive connecting bolts k. The connection between the shafts g, h is adjusted so as to prevent rubbing contact between the lobed parts a, b. The drive to the shafts g, h is preferably an irreversible one so that one lobed part does not drive the other.
