Abstract

330,516. Owen, W. H. March 5, 1929. Centrifugal machines.-A method for manufacturing hollow articles such as milk bottles consists in spraying a solution of a cellulose derivative on to the walls of a rotating mould and thereafter withdrawing the solvent. The mould 1, which may have a hollow wall for receiving a suitable heating fluid, is supported on a table 3 rotated by the prime mover 14. The material is sprayed by means of the nozzle 8 connected to a feed pipe 7 which is reciprocated vertically by a cam 12. The bottom of the article may be preformed or else moulded by means of the nozzle 10. The solvent, if volatile, is withdrawn by circulating a current of warm air.
