Abstract
329,845. Wellman Seaver Rolling Mill Co., Ltd., and Smith, S. May 24, 1929. Accumulators.-In an air-loaded accumulator, the accumulator pressure determines whether or not the pump is bye-passed. When the accumulator is filled to its highest level, the pressure therein acts through a loaded plunger 38 and linkwork to depress a valve 32 to place pipes 42, 43 in communication; liquid then acts on a piston 20 and raises a bye-pass valve 19. When the pressure falls, the valve 32 is returned to the position shown, in which the pipe 43 is connected to an exhaust pipe 44, and the bye-pass valve is closed by springs. A pipe 16 leads to hydraulic machinery, and a shut-off valve 24, normally held open by pressure on a loaded plunger 26, closes when the pressure falls to its minimum value.
