Books with tear-out portions; carbon papers, arrangement of.-A manifolding book comprises a series of bound units each consisting of a duplicate sheet 1 and a carbon sheet 3 bound to the back 8, and an original sheet 4 united along one edge to the duplicate sheet and adapted to be folded upon the carbon 3. A '' stop sheet or record sheet 10 hingedly secured to or integral with the back cover 7 is arranged to be swung beneath a manifolding unit while entries are being made upon it, and to cover parts of used units remaining in the book. The duplicate sheet 1 and carbon sheet 3 are provided respectively with wide binding-stubs 2, 5, the stub of the carbon sheet and the outer edge 6 thereof being uncarbonized for convenience in handling. The units are numbered successively from the back to the front of the book, the stubs of the bound leaves providing space for numbering. The carbon sheets are preferably of thin cheap paper with a light coating of carbon. Perforations or other weakening lines facilitate the separation of the originals from the duplicates and of the duplicates from their stubs.
