Abstract

327,961. Cox, C. W., Shawfield, C. E. C., and Welch, J. A. Jan. 11, 1929. Fusible cut-outs.-In an enclosed fuse a refractory block A has a perforation a<1> through which the fuse F passes and is connected to terminal pieces a<2> fixed to each end of block; metal explosion chambers B screw on the threaded peripheries of the terminal pieces a<2>, making gas tight joints, and are filled with filamentous metal D such as copper gauze. Contacts C which engage with spring clips are screwed into the respective explosion chambers and project from the ends of an insulated casing E which encloses the fuse. In a modification the refractory block is perforated with several holes so that a number of fuse wires may be used.
