Handles. - The longitudinal side edges of a carrying handle of the kind composed of a number of superposed layers of cardboard or like material are protected by means of metal or like edging strips which may be of channelled form completely enclosing the edges as at i, Figs. 1, 2 or may surround only the upper, lower and end margins of the edges in the manner shown at i<2>. Figs. 7, 8. The edgings are conveniently secured to the handles by clinching by means of presstools as indicated at x, and are provided with suitable holes or slots for the accommodation of the connecting rings g.
