Abstract
325,702. Pescara, R. P. Feb. 27, 1929. Two-stroke-cycle engines.-In a direct acting compressor wherein the floating pistons 1 are connected together by rods 4 and levers 6 to move synchronously, the compression pressure within the combustion chamber is raised by ejecting a part of the air charge during the first part of the compression stroke. The levers 6 are mounted on fork shafts 5. A valve 15 is raised a variable amount for this purpose by a cam 12 on a rock shaft 5 acting through a lever 14, whose fulcrum is adjustable either manually by the lever 27 of by fluid pressure acting in the piston 18. The lever 14 may act directly on the valve spindle or as shown through a blade spring 31, a dashpot on the valve spindle prevents sudden movement.
