Abstract

325,590. India Rubber, Gutta Percha, & Telegraph Works Co., Ltd., and Perry, W. J. Nov. 23, 1928. Balls.-A golf or like ball having a wound rubber core is provided between the cover and the core with one or more layers of unvulcanized rubber in sheet, tape, thread or other form, said layer or layers either individually or collectively containing ingredients to promote vulcanization upon the application of heat during the moulding of the cover or subsequently thereto. The rubber layers may be applied to the core in the form of a compound strip, one part of which contains sulphur and the other an accelerator, thus preventing pre-vulcanization. In modifications, the rubber layer or layers may be applied in the form of cups or sheets, or the core may be dipped into an unvulcanized aqueous dispersion of rubber containing the required vulcanizing ingredients.
