Abstract
324,159. Hilton, T. Nov. 19, 1928. Mattresses.-The marginal cords 17, Fig. 2, of a spring mattress are connected to the side or end frame-members 1 by hook-shaped members 11 each carrying a bush or sleeve 14 made of a metal which is softer than the metal of the hookmember, for example copper, through which bushes the cords pass. The hook 11 comprises a horizontal eye-portion 12 and a vertical eyeportion 13 which carries the bush. The bush may be cylindrical or oval in section and is formed with flared ends 15, 16, Fig. 3. The cords may be connected to the upper convolutions of the springs by similar bushes 22, 23 and the angle between the two portions 10, 18 is such that the bush is tightly gripped at its flared ends by the cord and so can turn in the vertical eyeportion 13. Adjacent springs may be connected together by a wire clip having eyes provided with bushes of the type described, and the longitudinal and transverse cords of the mattress may be connected together and to the springs by bushes 36, 34, 35 as shown in Fig. 5. The metal of the bushes is softer than that of the springs or cables. Specifications 27272/09; and 305,969, [Class 108 (iii), Springs &c.], are referred to.
