Abstract
323,617. India-Rubber, Gutta Percha, & Telegraph Works Co., Ltd., and Avery, W. L. Dec. 4, 1928. Addition to 299,950. Securing together machine elements for transmitting rotary motion.-The brake-drum E for a vehicle wheel is carried by an annular support member D which is secured to the side of the rim channel A<2> by tie-rods A<3> passing across the rim. In the construction shown, the support member is of conical form with a vertical flange D<1> at its outer periphery and an inner vertical flange D<2> to which the flange E<2> of the brake-drum E is bolted. The inwardly-extending cylindrical portion E<1> of the brake-drum is of such diameter as to fit closely within the edge D<2> of the supporting disc, and is stiffened by a flange E4. The part D<3> of the disc is stated to serve as a fairing for the adjacent portion of the wheel. Specification 103,868, [Class 144 (ii), Wheel tyres, Pneumatic &c.], is referred to.
