Abstract

322,690. Kennedy, J. E. Jan. 26, 1929. Crushers with gyratory heads.-In a gyratory crusher the head 28 is yieldingly suspended and is urged with a yielding force, constituting a predetermined crushing pressure in one direction, to a predetermined position axially of the concave, and permits of axial and lateral movement of the crushing member in the opposite direction by a force applied thereto which exceeds such predetermined crushing pressure. The gyratory crushing head 28 has the cutting face at the small end of sharper slope than that at the large end and the cutting edges may be formed on a mantle 34 secured to the head. The concave 6 is cylindrical and flared at each end and is reversible. The cutting surface of the concave may be formed on longitudinal segments provided with lugs 31, Fig. 3, by which they are secured to the concave. These segments have surfaces 32, 33 of equal and opposite inclination and a central cylindrical surface 35. The head 28 is supported resiliently by springs 18 interposed between an adjustable flange 19 and a sliding flange 17 supported on a cantable sleeve 14 slidable on the shaft 12 and housed in a socket 16 of a spider 8. The lower end of head-shaft 12 is mounted in a rockable bearing 24 eccentrically mounted in a sleeve 23 adapted to be driven by a pulley 26.
