Abstract

321,370. Thorne, C. B. Feb. 4, 1929. Bark, removing.-Relates to a log barker in which the logs are treated in a container, pocket or on a platform and are kept moving by actuating members which lift them up and move them forward. The bark is removed through the logs being rubbed together during transit. The logs are fed down the incline way 23 to the container, the bottom of which is slotted to allow rotating and reciprocating bar grates 10, 11, 12 to project inwards. The bar grates which are provided with lugs 17, are attached to cranks of the crank shafts 13 journalled beneath the container. The logs are kept within the limits of the walls 24 and lifted over the rear wall 22 to the discharge incline 25. In modifications the bar grates are replaced by oscillating plates or pistons projecting from cylinders at regular intervals.
