Abstract

Operating doors electrically and by toothed-gear mechanism.-A revolving door of the kind having radial wings or a central screen with end wings adapted to follow the contour of a. casing or vestibule is operated by mechanical means including an electric motor. As described, the door wings are mounted on a supporting spindle b which is rotated by an electric motor g through reduction gearing and a friction clutch q, p. The spindle b is carried by the usual trolley c, and the motor g is supported by a built-up platform. The motor drives the lower clutch member p through reduction gearing, as shown, the other clutch member q being keyed to slide on and rotate with the shaft r, the spring t allowing the clutch member q to slip when the door encoun. ters an obstruction. The shafts r, b are interconnected through a pin w engaging the arms v, v<1> of the shafts. Instead of the clutch and gear wheels n, o a belt or chain drive from the gear box k may be used. Switches for the motor may be placed on or near the door.
