468,223. Door - operating mechanism. EXPRESS LIFT CO., Ltd., and COVE, W. J. Dec. 31, 1935, No. 36083. [Class 65 (i)] A sliding door or the like of the kind comprising two or more parts or leaves 1, 2 conjointly operated and arranged to move unequal distances laterally in parallel planes has associated with each leaf a threaded shaft 12, 11 respectively (by means of nuts 16, 15 carried by the door leaves), so that rotation of the shaft moves the door and movement of the door rotates the shaft, and the shafts are positively connected by gearing 22 such that the speeds of movement of the parts are directly proportional to the distances through which the parts have to move. A cam 23 carried by one of the doors may actuate a limit or indication switch 24. The doors may be manually operated, or a gear 20 on one of the shafts may be driven by an electric or pneumatic motor.
