Abstract
319,469. Akeroyd, H. Aug. 22, 1928. Rasping-apparatus.-A grinding stone for use on wood pulping machines has reinforcing members comprising longitudinally-disposed bolts each passing through a bore provided in the mass or body of the stone and co-operating with an annular or polygonal band or bands located on each of the side faces of the stone. The stone 1, Figs. 1 and 2, is provided on its end faces with grooves 2 into which are inserted steel bands 3 which are preferably shrunk on to the inner faces of the grooves. The bands and stone are bored to receive bolts 5. The stone may be built up of segments, Fig. 3, which may interengage and the band may comprise bent rods 7 which engage over the bolts 5 and are stressed by connecting sleeves 9. A wire rope or a number of strands of wire may replace the rods 7. The bolts 5 may be threaded through eye-bolts which pass radially through the segments and are bolted to a metal sleeve in the central bore of the stone. The grooves 2 may afterwards be filled with cement &c.
