Abstract

Offal, treating; washing rools.-An apparatus for washing animal offals, or other analogous purposes e.g., washing roots, comprises a tank having a partition 7 forming two compartments 8, 9 joined by a pasage bounded by the curved end wall 10. The compartment 8 has, at its closed end, a pipe or pipes 11 for supplying water to the tank, the water flowing to the outlet at the end of the compartment 9. The outlet may, as shown in Fig. 3, be formed by transverse plates 13, 14, the water passages thus formed leading to the channel. Alternatively, outlet pipes may be arranged to draw water from the bottom of the tank. Steam or hot water may be admitted to the tank for heating. In use, the offal is placed in the water at the outlet end of the tank and passed through the water from operator to operator, until it is finally washed in the clean water freshly admitted to the tank. The upper edges of the tank, partition and strut 16 are rounded off or provided with a beading to obviate injury to the hands of the operators. A screw-plugged drain bole 18 is provided.
