Abstract
317,376. Maillard, J. E. B. Aug. 14, 1928, [Convention, date]. Feeding devices for granular &c. materials.-A box or container for pulverulent and pasty products, e.g., rice powder, rouge, soaps, tooth powders or talc is provided with a worm conveyer to compress the powder &c. and direct it to a discharge orifice. In the form shown in Fig. 1 rotation of a knob 8 operates a worm conveyer and also rotates a disc 2 which feeds powder &c. to the conveyer which ejects it through an aperture 23 closed by a spring- operated plate so arranged that the raising of the lid and the uncovering of the aperture is effected automatically by the spring when the closing- catch of the lid is released. A removable tray 37 containing a puff is provided. In an alternative form the conveyer extends right across the box the two halves being screwed in opposite senses so that both discharge at the centre. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the tooth powder case shown in Fig. 9 (Cancelled), which is adapted to be operated with one hand and comprises a conveyer 47 operated by a knob 49, the ejection orifice 52 being closed by a sliding plate 53 operated as shown from a push plate 66. It also includes a toilet cabinet shown in Fig. 10 (Cancelled) comprising a receptable 69 for powder a compartment 73 for the puff and a conveyer 6 operated from a knob 80 and an alternative form in which the pitch of the conveyer is smaller at its forward end and on reverse rotation ejects powder through an aperture at the front. It includes also the feature that the conveyer may be enclosed in a removable drawer 92, Fig. 14 (Cancelled) having a movable casing 94 actuated by a knob 95 to cover or uncover an opening 96 in the drawer 92 and the feature that the actuating knob may be composed of two members 103, 109, Fig. 16 (Cancelled), separated by springs 104. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
