Abstract

883,071. Delivering measured quantities of powdered material. MERKEL, H. Oct. 30, 1958 [Oct. 31, 1957; Aug. 23, 1958], No. 34813/58. Class 106(5). A dispenser for granular or powdered material comprises a container 1 having in one corner a measuring device 2 which has a V- shaped measuring compartment partly divided by a partition 3 so that on inverting the container and restoring it to its original position a measured quantity will fall into the compartment through the side 4 ready for discharge through the side 5 when the container is subsequently tilted. As shown in Fig. 2, the measuring compartment and the partition are integral parts of the container and the discharge opening 7 in the container can be closed by a slide 6 having a plate 13 which also shuts off the side 4 from the interior of the container. As shown in Fig. 6, the measuring device is a separate unit with an integral partition 3 and the plate 13 is omitted from the cover 6. The slide 6 has a stop 9 for limiting its movement to the open position and may have a depression, or corrugations or a handle 11<SP>1</SP> to facilitate moving it. The slide may be replaced by a rotary cover.
