Abstract
316,030. Warburton, F. G. Aug. 14, 1928. Driving; end-thrust devices.-A rotary pump is connected to a prime mover by a coupling adapted to hold the balance disc of the pump clear of its seating until hydraulic pressure is built up by the pump. In the form shown, the coupling consists of discs 1, 2 on the pump shaft 3 and the driving shaft 4 respectively. The discs are coupled by pins 7 the nuts of which screw down on to compressible elements such as the rubber bushes 11. A certain rocking motion is permitted between the discs 1, 2 by the provision of metal-lined rubber bushes 15 of barrel shape on the pins 7 where they pass through the disc 2. When the pump is at rest, the compressed rubber bushes 11 draw the balance disc 16 away from its seating 17, so that it is held away until the pumping starts when it becomes subject to the fluid pressure.
