Abstract

314,569. Anglo-Persian Oil Co., I.td.., (Woolley, A.). March 29, 1928. Couplings, disconnectible. -Two pipes are coupled by means of a tubular member a which is bolted to a flange on one of the pipes and is provided with clamping dogs e adapted to engage a flange on the second pipe. The clamping dogs are supported in trunnion blocks l which are positioned in spiral-shaped slots j<2> formed in a cam plate j which is mounbed on a carrier plate i. The latter is threaded on a rotatable tubular boss f, surrounding the member a and provided with handles g, and is provided with radial slots i<2>, through which the dogs e project while a cover plate k, supported on the carrier plate and bearing against the cam plate, is provided with like radial slots k<1>. The coupling member is completed by a thrust plate d screwed on the end thereof and also having radial slots d<2>, to accommodate the dogs e and prevent rotation of the carriar plate when the boss f is rotated. In operation, rotation of the the cam plate j by means of a handle j<1> thereon will cause the clamping dogs to move radially inwards or outwards, while rotation of the bush f will move the carrier plate i and said dogs in an axial direction.
