Abstract

314,060. Oehme, H., and Chemische Fabrik Kalk Ges. June 23, 1928, [Convention date]. Carbon bisulphide; sulphuretted hydrogen. - Sulphuretted hydrogen obtained from coal distillation gases by condensation as ammonium sulphide, and expulsion from the ammonium sulphide by heating or by passage of carbon dioxide, is passed over incandescent carbon to obtain carbon bisulphide. The temperature is controlled so that about 70 per cent of the sulphuretted hydrogen is converted. The gas remaining after condensation of the carbon bisulphide is treated to separate the sulphuretted hydrogen by absorption in ammoniacal liquor and expulsion by heating or by carbon dioxide.
