Abstract
313,574. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. June 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Oscillating and revolving cylinder pumps.-The pistons of rotary pumps for refrigerating machines &c. are driven by centrifugal force in both directions, effected by a rotation about a second axis applied to the compressor. Fig. 3 shows a pump cylinder 7 rotatable about a vertical shaft 3 in line with a pivot 9, and also having a rocking motion about the pivot produced by an eccentric 10 having a certain relative velocity. The cylinder may alternatively have a completely rotary motion about the pivot 9. Fig. 4 shows apparatus having more than one cylinder 7 having a rotation about the shaft 3 modified by an additional rotation produced by the bevel wheel 13. Apparatus is also described in which the compression stroke only of a rotary or oscillating pump is effected centrifugally, the return stroke being made by weights or springs.
