Abstract
366,615. Refrigerating compressors. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34227. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1929. [Class 8 (i).] In a gas compressor for refrigerating machines wherein the compressor rotates about an axis 2 and casings 15 containing the compressor cylinders rotate about an axis 7 and are driven through gearing 8, 9 the cylinders 13 are pivoted on a tube 11 and maintain through centrifugal force a position substantially radial to the axis 2. The pistons 3 are connected to an eccentric 10 keyed to the tube 11 which rotates with the casing 15. Suction is through tube 11 and discharge is through valve 14, casing 15, ports 16, tube 4, throttle 5 to the evaporator 6. Alternatively the piston may be pivoted to the tube 11 and the cylinder connected to eccentrics. In further modifications the piston or cylinder is made integral with the casing and the cylinder or piston is connected to the eccentric which is attached to the tube 11 provided inthis case with a weight attached to an arm, which arm tends to maintain a radial direction relatively to the axis 2.
