Abstract
313,251. Carloni, C. April 5, 1928. Lift valves; ball and float valves.-A pipe F has an aperture 4 surrounded by a flange 5 and a tubular extension 3. Slidable on the latter is a nozzle 6 having an internal shoulder 7 supporting a block 10 having grooves 11 in its perimeter. A washer 9 of polygonal shape is placed upon, or secured to, or lodged in a recess in, the upper face of the block 10. The nozzle 6 has two side branches 14 carrying an eccentrically journaled disc 16, the perimeter of which engages the upperface of the pipe 1. Rotation of the disc 16 by a handle 17 opens or shuts the valve. The valve may be actuated automatically by a float secured to the end of the handle 17. The disc 16 may be replaced by a polygonal member so that the valve may be held open in different positions. In a modification, the branches 14, Fig. 8, are connected by a cross-beam 25 carrying a screw 26 for operating the valve. The upper portion of the screw 26 is enlarged to prevent overtightening of the valve.
