Abstract

Indicating flow of liquids.-A device for actuating an indicator, signal, alarm, or cut-out mechanism on the failure or variation of the normal flow of water in a circulating or supply system comprises a lever B on which is mounted a container A and counterbalance load C, the container being situated beneath a supply pipe F delivering water to a feed tank E. The container A is provided with an orifice A' through which part of the water is discharged the aperture being regulated by a plate A<2> and distance washers A<4>. The normal flow is sufficient to overflow the container but when the quantity flowing is below the minimum requirements of the system the lever B rocks about the fulcrum B<1> and causes an adjustable stud B<3> to press down a plunger D to close the contacts of an electric circuit G to operate an alarm G' or other signal device, or cut-out device. Instead of an orifice in the base of the container is may have a V-shaped notch in a side wall.
