Abstract

11,517. Smith, J. T. Aug. 10. Developing &c.-Intermittent discharge apparatus for developing of photographic plates, films, prints, &c. comprises a tank A, Fig. 3, fitted with a pivoted and counterbalanced tray B, the balance of which is upset by water flowing into an end portion D, from which it overflows into the tray B proper. When the tray B contains a predetermined amount of water, it turns about the pivot E and empties, after which the water in the cup D acts as a counterbalance weight to return the tray to its original position. An additional weight D<2> may be provided, or the tray B may be arranged to discharge through a channel K into a vessel I, Fig. 5, either rigidly attached to the tray or connected by levers H, the lower of which is pivoted at H<1>. This arrangement helps to return the tray to its original position. The vessel I is perforated so that it slowly empties. A rack C fitting loosely in the tray B is suspended from the tank. A spring J may be provided to hold the tray in its normal position.
