312,598. Electro Bleach & By-Products, Ltd., Hollins, J., and Jepson, D. Feb. 25, 1928. Divided on 312,395. Metals, depositing; electrolytes, circulating, purifying, and heating; supporting electrodes.-In the electro-deposition of metals a local circulation is imparted to the electrolyte in the anode compartment in addition to the circulation throughout the cell in order to promote the washing of sludge from the anode material. In the apparatus shown the electrolyte is circulated by a pump h through a filter j and heater k controlled by a thermostat m to the bottom of the cathode chamber and passes over the notched upper end of the diaphragm d to the surrounding anode chamber containing scrap n from which it passes to a trap g. Part of the electrolyte is raised by a pump t and returned by a distributing head u. The trap g is provided with a blow-off connection. The scrap material n is mounted on a number of glass balls o carried by a grid p.
