Chromium, depositing; electrodes; electrolytes, circulating; barrel apparatus.-In barrel apparatus for plating small articles with chromium, rise of temperature is prevented by circulation of the electrolyte or by the use of an anode cooled by passage of liquid or of an anode formed in star shape to provide a large surface. The apparatus may be an inclined rotating barrel into which cool electrolyte flows from a pipe and from which it overflows at one edge. Alternatively it may comprise an inclined perforated drum submerged in electrolyte in an outer vessel, anodes being provided both inside and outside the drum.
