Abstract

311,475. Syversen, S. G. Feb. 20, 1928. Air, supplying; regenerators.-For consuming smoke in boiler furnaces secondary air preheated in pipes 41 disposed in the path of the flue gases is supplied to pipes 43 of fireproof material arranged above the fire level and having side openings adapted to discharge the air into the smoke stream at an acute angle to the stream lines of the furnace gases. The air is supplied at 40 and passes to a distributing channel 42 with which the pipes 43 communicate. The pipes 43 mav be made of carborundum. In a modification, Fig. 1 (not shown), slanting outlet ports connect a distributing conduit such as 42 with a port in the furnace arch and the secondary air is heated in three stages by successive preheaters disposed in the path of the gases, while the primary air is also preheated and supplied to the ash-pit. Valves may be provided in the air supply pipes.
