Abstract
311,290. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Ruder, W. E.). May 8, 1928, [Convention date]. Coiling; working at specified temperatures. - Brittle sheet metal, such as iron containing chromium and aluminium for rheostats, is worked at a temperature between 80‹ to 200‹ C., preferably at 100‹ C. A sheared strip 6 is fed through a beating coil 8 and coiled on a former 2 heated by blow torches 9 or other means. The former 2 is rotated by a belt 5. When the process has been in operation for some time the heating of the former 2 may be discontinued and the temperature of the coil 8 slightly increased.
