Abstract

311,146. Howind, F. July 24, 1928. Lasts.-A last having a toe and heel part of light metal abutting on an inclined plane has longitudinally tapered dovetail or other interengaging tongue and groove formations on the abutting faces for detachable connection of the parts. The tongue portion may be round in section, and may be provided on either the toe or the heel portion. When it is provided on the heel portion, as shown, the wider end of the tongue 4 is at the upper portion of the last. The parts are held in operative position by a split pin 6 or a screw or resilient bolt. Holes 10 are provided for wooden insertions for receiving the lasting tacks. Holes 9 may be engaged by hooks for withdrawing the heel part when desired. The last may be of aluminium, duralumin, or of an alloy of aluminium and magnesium.
