Abstract

308,407. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., and Chapman, E. Jan. 27, 1928. Cleaning. - Metals are pickled in acid in presence of an inhibitor consisting of a sulphonated or sulphonated and alkylated mineral oil fraction, a sulphonated formaldehyde-naphthalene or aldehyde-phenol condensation product, alkylnaphthalenesulphonic acids and polynuclear alkylated aromatic or hydroaromatic sulphonic acids in general, or products obtained by moderated oxidation of ligninsulphonic acid, or products obtained by the action of hot alkalies or of hot aqueous ammonia under pressure on ligninsulphonic acid. The inhibitors may be used in the form of free acids or soluble salts. Specifications 251,294, 252,694, 266,697, [all in Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.]; 274,611; 279,990, 286,808, 291,245, 293,781, and 301,549, [all in Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], are referred to.
