Pulp, preparation of.-In a process for extracting cellulose from any kind of vegetable, the material is heated in a series of heaters charged with and emptied of cellulose, in turn, the lye, maintained at the required temperature, being systematically circulated through the heaters so that the material in the most advanced heating stages receives the fresh lye while the raw material is brought into contact with the lye which has passed through the previous heaters. By this method, soda wood cellulose free from the usual brown colour and straw cellulose the colouration of which is hardly noticeable may be obtained.
