Abstract
305,002. Nacken, W. Aug. 1, 1928. Drawing wire.-A continuous wire drawing machine has the drawing drums 1, 2 - - mounted in superimposed pairs, there being no idle drums. The dies are mounted in holders 7, Fig. 3 carried by a pivoted member 10 which is oscillated by a cam 9 whose form is such that the wire is traversed across the drum face slowly in one direction and rapidly in the opposite direction with rapidly effected changes from one direction to the other to prevent grooving of the drums in the end positions assumed by the wire. The wire is received by a drum 13 provided with rods 14 along which a plate 15 is traversed against the resistance of a coiled spring 16, to receive the growing coil. A hood 17 is provided for the coil The wire may be wound from the coil on to a driven spool 11. The drum 13 may also be of tapered form with longitudinal slots along which a cruciform plate may be displaced. The axis of the finishing drum may be disposed horizontally or pointing obliquely downwards.
