Drawing wire.-In a continuous wire draning machine one or more drawing drums are arranged between each pair of dies the angle of bend of the wire round the drum being less than 180‹. This restriction does not apply to any non-driven guide rollers that may be. employed. Wire passes from a coil e round a guide roller k over a succession of drums b and through a series of discs a. The guide roller l for the take up reel is mounted on a slide m reciprocated by the cam o and levers p. The dies are supported on universal ball joints to facilitate setting and the angle of bend round the driving drums is adjustable by varying the opening of the supporting bases along the bed i. The operative surfaces of the driving drums and guide rollers are formed as detachable rings which may be frictionally driven. A number of modifications are described with reference to diagrams. In some cases more than one drawing drum is arranged between adjacent dies, and in this case the total bend on the several drums is less than 180‹. When guide rollers are employed these may be adjustably mounted to vary the angle of bend.
