Abstract
303,653. Kasanof, M. M. Jan. 10, 1928. Drying fabrics in long lengths.-Tubular fabrics are dried by drawing them over a perforated drum on a shell 50 with an inlet 51 for drying-air under pressure and perforations 54 so that the air flows through the fabrics which then pass over a steamer. A steam pipe 13 passes through the shell to a steam bowl 10, above which is spaced a drum 19 so that garments in passing the gap 20 are steamed, and then, by passing over the drum 19 are further dried; the gap 20 is adjusted by washers 34. The air drum 53 rests on a collar 55 on the shell 50 and is detachably held in place by a screw 56. The bowl is open at the top and is connected by a perforated pipe 15, nipple 12 and base 11 to the steam pipe 13, whereby stteam passes to the drum; condensed water drains through pipes 35, 36. A stretching ring 30 may be detachably fixed to the drum and an open flat stretching frame 21 partly rotatable attached above. When further drying is not desired, the drum 19 is closed to steam. To place the fabric over the shell 50, the drum 19, 53 may be removed and a plug inserted in the shell.
