Abstract
303,519. Schmidt'sche Heissdampf- Ges. Jan. 5, 1928, [Convention date]. Heating by indirect contact of steam.-In tubular heating element placed in the water space of a high pressure boiler 1, the group of tubes 12 through which the heating steam flows from the inlet header 7 at one end of the element to a reversing header 10 at the other end. and the group of tubes 11 through which steam and condensate return to the outlet header 5 are so arranged as to cross one another. The inlet and outlet headers may be formed separately and then secured together, or they may be formed by partitioning a single header chamber. Both groups of tubes are inclined downwardly in the direction of flow of the heating steam. The inlet and outlet connections 8. 6 are offset from the headers in the direction of the axis of the boiler drum to facilitate the passing of the element through the manhole in an end of the drum.
