Abstract
301,305. Kohorn, O. von, (trading as Kohorn & Co., O.), and Jõger, A. Nov. 26, 1927, [Convention date]. Cellulose xanthates, making filaments and films from.-To the coagulation baths used in the manufacture of viscose threads, films, &c., there are added keratin-containing substances, or the decomposition products thereof. Suitable substances are the bye-products obtained in the treatment of hides, horn, and wool, and in the manufacture of leather. The keratin-containing substance may be employed in the form of a colloidal solution, or it may be dissolved in acids or alkalies or by the aid of filaments; solution is facilitated by first treating with solutions of metal salts, for example, chromium salts. In an example, a solution of chrome leather in dilute sulphuric acid is added to an acid-sulphate coagulation bath. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers to the addition of glutencontaining substances such as bone bye-products. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
