Abstract
300,633. Aubert, P. F. M., Duval, A. J. P., and Duval, H. A. M., (trading as Aubert et Duval FrÞres). Nov. 17, 1927, [Convention date]. Case-hardening.-The parts of metal articles which are to be protected from the action of nitrogen during the hardening by the nitrogenizahon process described in Specification 174,580, are coated with a salt or mixture of salts of a glazing or enamel-like mass which prevents the entrance of the nitrogen. Potassium chloride or a mixture of 2 parts of barium chloride, 1.5 parts of potassium chloride, 1 part of calcium chloride and 1.25 parts of sodium chloride or a mixture of 7 parts of lead oxide, 2 parts of sand and 1 part of borax may be used. The parts may be coated with water glass before the protective mixture is applied.
