Building - blocks, special shapes of.- Walls are built of hollow interlocking blocks comprising in the principal form two hollow rectangular portions a, Fig. 6, united by a top web b and a lower web c, and with a hollow longitudinal key or locking member d formed centrally on the top face to engage with the recess e of the block above. The key d is scored to facilitate handling and is of less height than the recess e. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the key consists of two diverging ribs h with grooves k at the base. For deeper blocks o, additional webs p may be added. Wider blocks, Fig. 12, are formed with three rectangular portions a and two keys d, such blocks being bonded with halt or three-quarter blocks. A brick facing may be bonded with the wall, leaving an intermediate air space as shown. For window openings, angled blocks x are used as shown in Fig. 13, part of the key d on the main wall blocks being cut away to provide a flat bed; the window sills consist of blocks having an overhanging portion w chamfered at one edge v, and without the key d.
